Peal Chassis Type A411c
Peal A411c, Packs a punch for such a small set. Once I did the general service on it, I was amazed how well it sounded, the tone was brilliant and could pump out some great bass and mids while not compromising the highs. There were 3 problems, 1 being that the volume control didn't turn down. I removed the volume control and pulled it apart for an inspection, nothing was visually obvious, so I carried out a resistance test and it was fluctuating from open circuit to a resitive value. So I pulled the shaft off the front mounting assembly to give the wiper a good clean which didn't change anything, eventually I found it to be the connection with the brass rivet on one of the end terminals that connects to the resistive component. I did try punching the rivet tighter with no luck. I had stock of the right resistance but as well, it was a double pole switch that turned the set on/off.
After soldering a new switched potentiometer the volume was working well. As you can see in the picture the yellow wiring was the second problem with this set as some of the wiring was deteriorated and dried out so I carried out the necessary repairs. The third problem was 2 slight tears in the speaker which I was able to repair. Valves are: 6A8G, EBF35,EL33A, 6X5GT.
